Archäologisches Museum Colombischlössle
From South Baden’s oldest art works to medieval Freiburg: the Archäologisches Museum, built in the Colombischlössle manor house in 1859/61, invites its visitors on a journey through time. The neo-Gothic villa houses female statuettes from the Stone Age, mysterious moon idols from the Bronze Age and treasures from Celtic royal tombs. Archaeological finds show how people in Freiburg lived in the Middle Ages. Models and parallel events shed light on the living conditions of each age.
Please note
- In the Colombipark, the circuit around the fountain and the ramp up to the Colombischlössle are currently being repaved in sections. The museum is still accessible and open during regular opening hours.
- Our treasure chamber in the basement is closed until 4 July 2024 due to renovation work.
